Sophia Agnes Kilgour was born on 13 August 1848 in Preston, Northumberland, England and christened 29 October 1848 at Christ Church, Tynemouth, the fifth child of George Kilgour and Mary Chapman.

 

Sophia Agnes married Thomas James Bell on 5 July 1869 at St Hilda’s, South Shields, Co. Durham.

 

Sophia Agnes and Thomas, a warehouseman, were the parents of:

 

·              James Thomas Bell born 11 August 1870 in North Shields and christened on 25 August 1870 at Christ Church, Tynemouth;

 

·              Nicholas Smith Bell born in 1873 in North Shields;

 

·              Kate Agnes Bell born 16 September 1875 in North Shields and christened at Christ Church, Tynemouth on 6 October 1875 died in North Shields in 1877, aged 1 year;

 

·              Kate Bell born 31 January 1878 in North Shields and christened 20 February 1878 at Christ Church, Tynemouth married Thomas Slater about 1892;

 

·              Albert Bell born 21 April 1880 in North Shields and christened 19 May 1880 at St Peter’s, Tynemouth;

 

·               Amor Bell born in 1883 in Preston;

 

·              Sophia Agnes Bell born in 1885 in Preston;

 

·              Esther Bell born in 1887 in Preston;

 

·              Jane Bell born in 1890 in Preston; and

 

·              Thomas James Bell born about 1892 in Preston.

 

Thomas James Bell died in Preston in 1898, aged 52 years.

 

Sophia Agnes Bell nee Kilgour died in Tynemouth in 1924, aged 75 years.
